Designing My Future RECENT Projects

Cartographic Work In the Year 2018

In my Last Semester of Hunter College there was a lot of confusion as to what I would be doing the next 45 years of my life. But I found Geographic Information Science (G.I.S) and it has sparked a passion for Cartography. Obtaining a bachelors of arts from CUNY Hunter College was a small step compared to what would come next. With only two classes of GIS under my experience I approached a Director of G.I.S and understood what I had to do in order to do my part in obtaining the Masters degree in science. Now this semester is almost over. Fall 2018 Im not sure if I will pass the courses but I enjoy the work I was able to develop in my time as a student. Im realizing that Im doing more Visual design work in assignments than actual cartography. To jump from a degree in social/Quantitative/Qualitative research to a science is something unexpected. I'm embracing this opportunity and now searching for a Job.

GIS In Urban Planning

GIS, Geographic information system. The world is being visualized and designed in different projections across the world using GIS. Fellow bloggers, designers, and artists, computer programmers need our help designing a virtual world. I'm here writing this blog at Hunter college in my last semester with a major breakthrough

Technology will make our lives easier, how much longer do we have to wait in order for us to realize that. I'm not asking that we throw away our lifestyle but that we embrace technology through any means necessary. GIS is one of those technology that we should embrace. If you live in the city, you are constantly engaging with GIS. The reason is because GIS is a software used by everyone with data. It is not easy to provide evidence to the public, evidence that shows how information is free and powerful.

Data can be found on your cellphone, car GPS, and even through work information. Public information is different from Private information. As technology evolves we become immune to having too little of one or the other if we do not act now. Net neutrality has been recently fiddled with here in the U.S, while some states still fight for the freedom of accessibility to public and private data.

GIS is a powerful tool that will take humanity to places they never discovered from their phone. Google Earth is a web-based map projection of the earth that shows 3D models of cities using satellite images, sensors, as well as computer coding. This software has been upgraded as of recent and implore everyone to try it out.

If you enjoy history, Computer design, and public relations Urban Studies is the right place for you. I joined this program in the city because I was not sure how I could fit into hunter. Urban studies showed me to embrace the most important fact, Technology is bring us closer together unlike anything before. If you have a gift to draw then design something, If you can calculate then problem solve, and if you write then organize thoughts. This is how we can design communication to be clear, pristine, and translucent.
